Interreg RO–HU P2P projects are closing – results, communities, future
Interreg Romania–Hungary ProgrammeA significant number of People-to-People (P2P) projects implemented under the Interreg Romania–Hungary Programme have now entered their final phase, with several initiatives already successfully completed. The results achieved in recent periods clearly demonstrate the strong impact that small-scale, community-focused projects can have in border regions.
Initiatives supported by the programme – whether cultural collaborations, youth activities, or joint research projects – share a common outcome: they have created lasting connections between partners from Romania and Hungary. These projects have not only delivered concrete activities but have also built communities that continue to thrive beyond the project lifecycle.
Based on the experiences of recently completed projects, it is evident that cross-border cooperation generates real added value: it strengthens trust, facilitates knowledge exchange, and contributes to more effective solutions to shared challenges. Such initiatives play a particularly important role in connecting local communities, including young people, researchers, and civil society organisations.
At the same time, many projects are still under implementation and are expected to reach their final stage in the coming months. To support successful delivery, the programme’s Joint Secretariat and the Interreg RO-HU Info Points provide continuous professional assistance to beneficiaries.
The current phase of the programme is therefore both about consolidating results and ensuring the successful completion of ongoing projects.
