Final Funding Awarded, Contracting and Activities Kicking off

The Monitoring Committee of the Interreg VI-A Hungary-Croatia Programme has awarded just over 800 000,00 EUR to the third strategic project in Priority 3, aiming at improving the connectivity of the region. The project is tasked with preparing the documentation for the construction of a bridge over the Mura river and is a continuation of a previous strategic project with the same aim. The partnership led by the Hungarian Ministry of Construction and Transport will work on the preparation of the necessary documentation, including building documentation on the Hungarian side and the environmental assessment and the preliminary design on the Croatian side. The project is expected to end in 2029.

With all the available funding now allocated to the projects, the programme implementing bodies have spent the first quarter of the year focusing on contracting the suppported projects. Having successfully completed the contracting phase, the projects have been kicking off their activities. A large number of kick-off meetings and conferences has taken place in March and April with several more announced for the weeks ahead:

FORWARD - 19 May in Tormás, Hungary. The project focusing on improving degraded natural habitats amd led by Mecsekerdő Zrt. will present the planned activities to the public.

S4S - 19 May in Virovitica, Croatia. The project aiming at improving the response of emergency services in situations of natural disasters will mark the beginning of their activities with a kick-off conference.

Be(e)Good - 22 May in Bilje, Croatia. The partnership will introduce the activities of the project focusing on the support to sustainable and resilient practices in beekeeping such as effective landscape architecture strategies, including the selection of appropriate flora and the establishment of flowering strips.

Other supported projects range from small-scale cooperation between public bodies aimed at harmonizing processes and removing administrative obstacles for cooperation to investments into tourism infrastructure and improving resilience to climate change.
