Transnational cooperation involves regions from several countries of the EU forming bigger areas. It aims to promote better cooperation and regional development within the Union by a joint approach to tackle common issues providing this way more efficient solutions than on national level. Regarding transnational cooperation, Hungary is involved in the Interreg Central Europe Programme that includes 9 countries and also participates the Danube Transnational Programme involving 14 countries, in which Hungary operates the programme management bodies.
