INTERREG V-A SLOVAKIA-HUNGARY COOPERATION PROGRAMME

The Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme contributed with 155 million EUR for creating cross-border cooperation and implement joint projects in 2014-2020. The programme is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Hungary in cooperation with the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic.

Who is this programme for?

The programme is open to organizations located in the border area such as:
•    state and public administration organizations; 
•    civil and non-profit organizations;
•    education institutes and research centres;
•    small- and medium-sized enterprises.

What was the programme about in 2014-2020? 

Nature and culture 
The aim of the priority axis is to increase the touristic attractiveness of the regions. Those projects received support which address the protection, development and promotion of natural and cultural heritage sites of the border area.

Enhancing mobility
The aim of this priority axis is to increase the number of border-crossing points and to decrease the travelling time of the border-crossing traffic. Those projects received support which establish new road, bridge and ferry connections and improve the community as well as the public transport services. 

Facilitating employment
The aim of this priority axis is to create new, sustainable workplaces and facilitating labour mobility. Territorial action plans received support that contribute to increasing the competitiveness of small- and medium-sized enterprises and to the improvement of the cross-border road infrastructure. 

Institutional cooperation
The aim of this priority axis is to facilitate cooperation among institutions in the border area and exchange of knowledge and experience. Projects received support that contribute to improving the institutional capacities and sharing best practices. 

Small Project Fund (SPF)
The Small Project Fund supported joint projects with small budget (up to 50.000 EUR) in the field of “Nature and culture” and “Institutional cooperation”. 

The Fund provided financial support for activities such as organizing of cultural events, summer schools and camps, as well as the promotion of tourism at the natural and cultural heritage sites in the border area.
Two organizations managed the applications for the Fund. Rába-Duna-Vág EGTC (http://rdvegtc-spf.eu/) on the Western side, and Via Carpatia EGTC (http://www.viacarpatia-spf.eu/) on the Eastern side of the border area.
